Professorship in High Precision Radiotherapy with Protons
(W2 BBesO grade post)

This professorship is newly established at and associated with the Clinic for Particle Therapy at the West German Proton Therapy Center Essen (WPE) and the University of Duisburg-Essen Medical School to complement the activities of the Director of the Clinic for Particle Therapy. The WPE is one of the leading institutions for proton radiotherapy in Germany and one of the most advanced proton therapy centers in the world. The holder of this position will contribute to research, teaching, and patient care in high precision radiotherapy with protons. Subject to suitability, applicants for this professorship will be considered for the position of a senior physician at the Clinic for Particle Therapy.The holder of the position will be responsible for conducting high quality clinical-translational research to optimize radiotherapy with protons using modern imaging technologies. Eligible candidates will have the opportunity to build a research group in an appropriate scientific focus. Excellence in clinical radiation oncology and proven ability in developing and conducting clinical trials are expected. Experiences in networking and collaboration with clinical experts and research groups are requested. The research projects of the applicant are supposed to complement existing research programs at the Clinic for Particle Therapy with the aim to improve processes and concepts in radiation oncology. The holder of the position will have access to the clinical service and appropriate technical equipment in agreement with the Director of the Clinic for Particle Therapy. A strong ambition to collaborate with the research community and medical partners of the West German Cancer Center (WTZ), the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK), and the German Research Foundation (DFG-)funded Research Training Group GRK1739 is essential. Adequate scientific, organizational and personal skills are presumed.

Qualifications according to § 36 Hochschulgesetz NRW are required. Publications in peer-reviewed journals and successful experience with competitive third-party funding applications are mandatory. Involvement in teaching activities of the university is mandatory. Concepts on the participation in teaching activities with regard to the profile of the University Medical School should be provided.

Positions available for Medical Physicists with Experience in Proton Therapy
at
Yizhou Proton Therapy Center in Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province (
30 min from Beijing), China

The center has a total of 5 treatment rooms consisting of 4 gantries (3 dedicated PBS rooms and one PBS/DS room) and one dedicated PBS fixed beam room. All rooms are equipped with CBCT for IGRT. The facility also hosts multiple conventional linacs 2 Tomotherapy units, one PET/CT, one SPECT/CT, and several CT and MRI imaging systems. RayStation Version 6 (with Monte Carlo calculation algorithm) is used for treatment planning. The center will assist selected applicants in obtaining working permit/visa for the employment in China.

The center is looking for several English-speaking medical physicists with proton experience to join the proton therapy team. Medical Physics graduates with fellowship in proton therapy are also welcome to apply.

SR Consultant Radiation-Oncologist for Proton Treatment Centre in India

The Apollo Proton Treatment Centre, part of Apollo Cancer Hospital Chennai, India, is recruiting a Sr Radiation Oncologist and a Proton Medical Physicist for the Apollo Proton Treatment Center (APTC). The APTC is expected to open end of 2017, and is equipped with an IBA Proton Therapy system that includes a 250 MeV superconducting cyclotron. The center will have 2 gantries and one fixed beam room. In-room cone-beam CT will be available in each gantry room and spot scanning will be used. The center will also be equipped with a PET CT/MRI, CT simulator and a 3.0T MRI unit, as well as 2 True Beam Machines for photon treatments. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the clinical team. We are looking for an enthusiastic experienced radiation-oncologist, with experience in proton-therapy, who is looking for a stimulating work environment. You will treat patients both with photon and proton therapy and contribute to the development of treatment protocols for proton treatment. You are proficient in spoken and written English. Within a team of professionals you can work independently and project-based. You are diplomatic and emphatic. Interest in clinical research is a plus.

The Apollo Proton Treatment Centre, part of Apollo Cancer Hospital Chennai, India, is recruiting a Proton Medical Physicist for the Apollo Proton Treatment Center (APTC). The ideal candidate will have clinical experience in proton therapy. 

The APTC is expected to open in 2017, and is equipped with a IBA Proton Therapy system that includes a 250 MeV superconducting cyclotron. The center will have 2 gantries and one fixed beam room. In-room Cone-beam CT will be available in each gantry room and spot scanning will be used. The center will also be equipped with a CT simulator and a 3.0T MRI unit. When fully operational, this state-of-the-art facility will be staffed, among others, by 11 medical physics faculty members.
