 PTCOG Robert R. Wilson Award

PTCOG announces the initiation of a yearly Robert R. Wilson Award for Significant Contributions to the field of Particle Therapy. This will be given to an individual recognizing their cumulative achievements in the field of particle therapy. The award is presented during the annual PTCOG meeting, during which a keynote lecture will be given by the awardee. Candidates from all countries and any disciplines related to particle therapy are eligible. The awardee will receive a certificate signed by the PTCOG chair and secretary, and a nominal monetary award and will be included in a permanent roster of awardees. The awardee will also be asked to submit a manuscript to the International Journal of Particle Therapy summarizing his award lecture.

Any PTCOG member can suggest a nomination and submit that suggestion to a representative of the Steering Committee. At least 3 members of the Steering committee must support this nomination and two of them must write letters of support. These nominations and letters of support are presented to the Executive Committee by a member of the Steering Committee. Normally, all nominations must reach the PTCOG Secretariat no later than end of the calendar year preceding the Scientific Assembly, i.e., 31 December for the following PTCOG conference.
For this first year, we will accept nominations until March 8, 2019. Download here the Nomination Form and send your suggestion to the This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

 PTCOG Exchange Program

Learning from those who do it and exchanging ideas with colleagues is a very important way to gain expertise. For many PTCOG Members who do not have the advantage of sabbatical benefits, but would wish to interact on a more detailed level than what can be accomplished at professional meetings, we start a PTCOG Exchange Program. The list attached shall help to enable exchange of professionals in the field of particle therapy with the goal of reaching highest therapy standards worldwide by exchanging our practical knowledge and experience.

Clinical Trials in Particle Therapy

See PTCOG update from November 2017 of a collection of clinical trials in particle therapy. About 200 clinical trials are ongoing, about 150 of them are recruiting patients (send a message to This email address is being protected from spambots. Patient Statistics per End of 2017

Per end of 2017 almost 200'000 patients have been treated worldwide with particle radiotherapy, about 170'500 with protons, about 25'700 with C-ions and about 3'500 with He, pions and other particles.  End of 2017 we counted 69 particle therapy facilities worldwide in clinical operation. File with details of the patient statistics of all particle therapy centers worldwide are published for registered Members of PTCOG only.
